Christmas in July for Couture Creations

Hey lovelies!

I'm back today to share a Christmas layout using the stunning new Christmas Emporium papers from Couture Creations.

These beautiful papers were just screaming at me to be fussy cut  and I love the end result.  With just a few simple papers and a doily or two of course, you have a great layout with maximum impact.

Here's how I created this page.

First I made a simple paper cluster and adhered it to my base page.

I then went to work picking out  my embellishments.  I used some gold mirror card to cut two doilys.  This doily is called Rowena and its from the beautiful Amaryllis ornamental lace dies collection.  I love how the gold card gives it a really sparkle and shine.  Using my hearts nesting dies I also cut two of the smallest heart using cork paper.  Another favourite paper to use at the moment.  Now its time to sit in front of the telly and fussy cut away!

Then I started to layer all my papers and embellies.

Some I have stuck flat to the page and some I have used the 3D foam strips  These strips are perfect for this intricate cutting. I then hand stitched around all my pretty papers.

Here below is a couple of close ups of my page

I have used a simple word for my title.  This is the Smile die from the Everyday Essentials collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by and a happy Christmas in July to you all!

Until next time

Hearts Ease Layout

Hello friends!
Thanks so much for popping by.  Today I have a layout to share with you all.

So I tried to get in touch with my mixed media side seeing as that seems to be all the rage at the moment.  I really struggle with mixed media.  I kinda like it all nice and clean and mixed media is so random that it kinda plays with my OCD side :).  Anyway - here is how I achieved this layout.

Here is my first little tip.  To save on paper when I am working on a white background and using a patterned piece of paper as a border, I always cut the middle out so that I can use the inside piece later.

Set both pieces aside and work on your white cardstock to create you background paper.  I have cut an inch of two sides to create a border.  I then used the long stamp strip for the Heats Ease Border and Butterflies stamp set and randomly stamped over my paper.  Then I added another layer using some gold texture paste and a stencil.

Using the 6 x 6 Hearts Ease paper pad I made my paper cluster and hand stitched around the edges before I stuck it all onto the base page.

Using the new flowers I gently swiped them with a little distress stain.  These white flowers are just awesome to be able to put your own touch to.  I also cut a couple of doilys using the Rowena dia from the Amaryllis Ornamental Lace Die collection.  I also coloured these with the distress stain.

I have then started to layer my page and add my embellishments.
Here is a closer look at all the details in the embellishment cluster.  I have used lots of dies and cut from the paper pad too as well as a few bits and pieces from the Hearts Ease ephemera pack.  The little butterfly is from the Everyday Essentials collection.  The swirl tucked in amongst my flowers is from the new Secret Garden collection called Butterfly Flourish 2.  I have also used the Nesting Hearts Dies too.  The photo corner is another favourite die at the moment.  Its called Twisting Corners and looks awesome cut in gold glitter.  I have also been using it as an extra touch to nestle into my flower clusters too.

Just before I go, I wanted to share another little tip that I have found really useful.  A lot of my layouts are loaded with details and I found a really good way of making creating a little quicker.

Wallah!!!

This little box of goodies makes my crafting life so much easier.  Every so often when I want to craft but don't really know what it is I want to do, I pull out my dies and a bunch of papers and die cut.  Yep I'm on a bit of a cork and glitter thing at the moment.  Seriously having a bunch of stuff already cut out makes scrapping so much easier for me.  I do the same with all my doilys (coz no page of mine is complete without a doily or two).
Thanks so much for letting my share and for all you beautiful comments.  They are truly appreciated!
Until next time
happy scrapping!
