Cardabilities Entry

OMGosh!  Didn't think I would be back so soon!

It has been so very hot here so all I have done is sit and scrap in the airconditioning.  While sitting here I came across this cool little site called Cardabilities.  They had an awesome little sketch and I thought I would have a go at it.

This is the sketch.

This is what I came up with.

If you get a chance have a look at this great little blog.   They have some great sketches on there!

Exciting news!

Hey everyone!

Firstly - Merry Christmas to you all!  I hope that you all enjoyed a blessed Christmas season.  Ours was very quiet with family.  Just the way I like it :)

I have some exciting news to share today.  I made the Feeling Sketchy design team!  I love this little blog and it has really inpsired me with my card making over the past year so I'm hoping that I can now inspire others.

Now that Christmas has come and gone its time for my mum's birthday in another week.  I always try and spoil her :)  This year we are going to have a girly day with my little girl and my mum and go and have our nails and a pedicure done and then maybe some lunch.

Here is the card that I have made for her.  I got the sketch from the Feeling Sketchy blog.

Years ago my mum used to work as a rep for John Sands Greeting cards.  She never saw the value in cards.  They cost so much money for what they were was her thinking.  So for a long time there, we never gave her cards for any occasion.  When I started making cards and scrapping a few years ago that all changed.  She now gets me to make cards for her friends and loved ones! Hehehehe.

Anyways, I'm going to enter this into the Feeling Sketchy challenge this week.  I have been super busy creating layouts too but I will pop back a little later with some to share.

Have a wonderful weekend and new year.  If you are in Western Australia, try and stay cool.  The temperature here is just nasty.

DT Application for Feeling Sketchy

Hey everyone.  Wow!  Can you believe we are just 2 days out from Christmas?  How fast has that come around?  I think I am now finally sorted.

One of my favourite blogs Feeling Sketchy is having a Design Team call so I thought I would try out.  You never know if you dont give it a go - right?

So here is the sketch that we had to go from.

This is what I came up with.

This card is for my cousin who has someone that is having a baby girl soon.  I have also decorated the inside too.

Just wanted to take this moment as well to wish all of you a blessed Christmas season and a happy and safe new year.

Mini Album

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well.

Just wanted to share with you my new mini album that I have just finished.  A warning it is a little heavy on the photos.  Sorry!

I used some really pretty Kazazz papers that I have had in my stash for a while now.  There is lots of hidden pockets and tags in this book.  I can't say I was overly happy with how the binding turned out.  I really wanted to use my Zutter binding but I didnt have rings big enough for it so had to go with the old ring binders.  Still happy with the overall look of it.

On the front is a Dusty Attic chipboard.  This I have had tucked away for AGES!  I made it at a make and take when I went on a scrapbooking bus trip and thought it went perfect on the front.

Anyway enough blabbing.  Here's the pics!

Phew!  Sorry it was such a long post.  This was a lot of fun to make.  Thanks again for stopping in!

Feeling Sketchy Challenge

Hey everyone!  How are you all?  Hope you are all doing fine and almost sorted for Christmas.  Not long now.  I have just a few more things to organise and then I'm sorted.  Phew!!! Hard work!

The last two weeks has seen my classes wind down for Christmas / New Year break which is a little sad coz I really love seeing these gorgeous ladies.  Having said that it has also given me a little more free time.  So I thought I would have another go at the Feeling Sketchy challenge for this week.  I made Top 4 last week!  Pretty chuffed!

So the card I made this week is a little different for me.  Ok its a lot different from my normal style.  I usually like all the pretty girly papers with lots of florals.  Stamped images with lace and lots of punching.  But I love alot of the other different papers but I seem to struggle using them.  So when I seen this paper pad at my local Big W store I jumped on it and decided to step out of my comfort zone!

See what I mean?  Very flat, no dimension and not a flower in sight!!!  Im pleased with how it turned out tho.

I have even managed to do a layout too.  I love this photo of my man and I.  It was taken earlier in the year at the Curtin University Corporate Ball.  Thats where my hubby works and it was lovely to get out and be totallly indulgent for a night.

See - again not a flower in sight! Hehehehe

I have also finished another mini album.  I will pop back a little later and share as it will be quite a heavy post with lots of pics.

Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful weeked!

Christmas Box

Hey all

Just a quick share today.  I dont normally do Christmas gifts for girlfriends except my bestie that has been by my side for the past 20 odd years, but I have a made a very special friendship this year with a lovely lady and I really wanted to give her something.  Just a token, not a big flashy present.

I  came across this idea on someones blog. There wasn't any instructions or measurements for it but I thought I have made enough boxes and easel cards that I can wing it myself.  It is a little box with a drawer that slides out .  The top bit is accetate and it is all held together with a belly band.

She is also a scrapper so I thought I might fill it with a few charms and blossoms.  This was a lot of fun to make and they would be fantastic for birthday gifts or just a fun way to dress up a few choccies.

Thanks for stopping by!

Feeling Sketchy Challenge

Hey everyone.

Just a quick post today.  I haven't had a go at the Feeling Sketchy Challenge for a while now.  Seem to be flat out and never enough hours in the day but i decided this week I was going to give it a go.

I have really enjoyed making Christmas cards this year and I have heaps of paper left over so I decided to do another one for this weeks sketch.

Also a few weeks ago, the Feeling Sketchy blog had a really nice sketch for a layout. I so wanted to have a go but I ran out of time but kept the sketch because I knew I would use it somewhere. I got a chance this week and this is what I came up with. Im really pleased with how this turned out

I have used the gorgeous Prima Sun Kiss papers.  They have been sitting in my stash for a while now and while I know they are probly a bit "flowery" for boys I thought it came together really well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Kaisercraft - The Lakehouse

Hey everyone!

Thanks again for stopping by.  Just a couple of layouts to share today.  I have been using the very pretty papers from Kaiser - The Lakehouse. These papers are sooo very pretty and girly.  The first one I decided to do some fussy cutting (something I dont very often do) and I also used my new Lucky 8 punch.  I was pleased with how it turned out.  I think because the fountain was quite large it didn't really need a lot of embellishments.  This is me when I was 16. I was bridesmaid for a cousin.  Oh that seems like such a long time ago!

This next one is a recent pic of my little girl and me taken last week at my dads birthday.  Its been really nice to scrap some photos of myself.  Usually its all about the kids!  Again I fussy cut around the flowers to make a frame for my photo. I also used a new Martha Stewart punch.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.  Enjoy your day!

Copic Craziness

Hello and thanks for stopping by.

I have been having a play with my Copics these last few weeks.  OMGosh!  They certainly arent the easiest things for me to get the hang of!  But  I have managed to make a couple of cards with some finished images.

I chose my beloved La La Land stamps because they have a bit of space for you to practice the blending.  Here is the next one.

Overall I spose they arent too bad.  I find the prisma colour pencils a lot easier to use but I spose its like anything new and you just have to keep trying.  So with that in mind, I bought 4 new La La Stamps yesterday to practice on hehehehe.

I also wanted to share some Christmas creations with you.  I usually make my own Christmas crackers because I like to be able to stuff them with my own bits and pieces.  I usually put movie tickets in there and other  gift cards or vouchers.  Its like another little surprise when we sit down to eat Christmas lunch that we all get to share.  These are the ones that I have made this year.  I do have intentions to make a bunch of these for family, friends and the kids school teachers but time is getting away from me so I may have to do just a few.

Sorry the picture is not the best.  This other one, I cut a hole in the middle and it fit 3 tealight candles in.  Perfect for Christmas gift giving.

Feels good to have made a start on Christmas!

Colour Crazy!

Hi and thanks for stopping by.  Wow another week has come and gone again and we seem to be flying toward Christmas.  How did this year manage to get away from me so quickly?

This week has seen me go right back to my childhood.  I have pulled out my prisma pencils and have been very happy to just sit and colour.  I find colouring so relaxing.  I have made a couple of Christmas cards.  One with a La La Land stamp and the other is a Whimsy stamp.  Such beautiful stamps to colour.

This is my first one.  This stamp is one of the latest releases from La La Land Crafts.  Im so pleased with how she turned out.

She is super cute and has the most beautiful little face!

Here is the next one

I know they are a little different for Christmas cards because we don't have a white Christmas here in Australia but I thought oh well does it really matter?  I liked them :)

This last one was a stamp I received in a magazine pack.  From memory it was Simply Australian Cards.  Not 100% sure on that tho.

I ended up giving this card to a lovely lady that comes to my classes for her birthday last week.  If your reading, Happy Birthday Miss Dee!!

Not much scrapping has been going on here.  I have been super busy working in the office at school.  Im really enjoying the change of pace and its always great to learn new things.

I did manage to pull out my Copics again and have another little play.  This time I think I may of had a bit of success!  I will pop back a little later and share the cards I have made using my Copics.

Enjoy your weekend.  Im off to see Nickelback at the new Perth Arena.  OMGOSH!  Anybody who knows me well knows that they are my all time favourite band.  So I am soooooooo excited for tomorrow night.  My hubby and I are going and we are taking along our youngest boy too.  Its his first concert so he is super excited.  Im like a kid on Christmas Eve!

Take care

Hugs xx

Monday, November 5, 2012

Hey there!

I didn't realise I had been gone for so long!  I seem to have been flat out these last few weeks and here I was thinking I would have more time now that I'm not working.

Well I wasn't out of work long.  I have now picked up some casual work in the office at the kids school.  Super excited about that.  Today was my first day and all went well.

Onto some scrapping.

I havent done a lot in the way of scrapbooking lately. So just a couple of layouts to share.

This one is using the Kaisercraft Attitude papers.  These papers are great for boys!  I used my templates and mists for the cog background and the collectable packs make embellishing easy.

This next one is the Perriwinkle range, also from Kaisercraft.  Im slowing trying to get my mums and dads wedding album done.  They have been married for 46 or 47 years so I am really trying to have their whole album done for their 50th wedding anniversary.  I know it seems like a long way away but time is flying by!  I can't believe we are now into November and that Christmas is only next month!

This last one is a pic of my beautiful nan.  These are papers that came in a pack from Bella that I picked up in the reject shop of all places. I had papers and a couple of embellishments but I went through my stash at home to see what I could add to it.   I love the colours in this layout.

And yes, all the stitching on this one is by hand!  I have tried a few times to use my machine but I always end up having an argument with it so I find it less frustrating to do it by hand :)

Will pop back later in the week with some Christmas crafts I have been doing.  Yep I know scary knowing that Christmas is now around the corner.

Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Top 4!

Yay!  I made top 4 again over on the Feeling Sketchy Challenge blog.  Always exciting and after the week I have had it was definately a highlight.

Not much to share this week as we have been away on holidays down in the beautiful Margaret River area in the south west of WA.  Truly beautiful down there!  We spent 4 nights away and the kids had a blast.  It was our first family holiday together and Im sure it won't be the last.

It didnt get off to the best of starts.  After some careful consideration I have quit my job at the scrapbook store.  I have been very lucky to work in an industry that I truly love for the past 5 years and I have had the opportunity to meet and make some wonderful friendships.  I have no idea where I go from here.  I'm sure tho that I am where I am meant to be at this moment in time. I will continue to do my classes from home and just for the time being be a stay-at-home mum.  A bit more time for scrapping so thats a bonus!  I have been inundated with messages and phone calls from lots of friends and aquaintences wishing me well and that has definately given me a boost.  So thank you to all you beautiful people!

Onto a little bit of scrapping.  Like I said before I don't really have much to share. I have two classes running this week.  A layout and a card class.  These are the cards we are doing.  If you or anyone that you know are interested in coming along to some classes, let me know!

I dont often use a lot of black and white but I was really pleased with how these turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

New Kaiser Collections

Hey everyone!

I didn't think I would be back so quick but I just wanted to share a couple of layouts I have done.

These two are from the new Kaiser paper lines "Perriwinkle" and "Butterfly Kisses"

This one here I'm entering into this weeks challenge over at the Feeling Sketchy challenge blog. Usually I enter my cards but this week it was for a layout so I thought I would give it a go

.

I love the colours in this next layout.  Just so soft and even tho they tend to sway toward the vintage style I was pleased that I was able to use some pics of the kids.

Now I'm off to enjoy some beautiful weather we are expected to have over this long weekend!

Busy Busy Busy!

Hello friends!

Wow!  I have to say that the last few weeks have absolutely flown and we now find ourselves right into spring.  How did that happen so fast?  That also means school holidays are here again.  Yippeee!  I love holidays.  Love not having to worry about getting kids to school and love having no routine.  Plus it gives me some more time to do what I love so thats always good.

I have been super busy lately creating cards for my classes.  With Christmas just around the corner I thought I would make some Christmas cards.  Kaiser also came out with their new Christmas range so it was all perfect timing.  Love how bright and colourful these one turned out!

Also decided to go down the traditional line too.

These papers were lovely to play with and the images on them are truly beautiful.

One more card to share.  One of my friends has had her second baby this week.  Another little girl.  Congratulations Cara and Trev!!  Had to make a card to celebrate the occasion.  Tho I just notice the little pearls at the bottom need fixing!!

Finally after pumping out cards for a few weeks I finally managed to get my scrap on.  Kaiser released a new paper line this week called Butterfly Kisses.  When I first saw it I really wasnt sold on it.  I'm not a real lover of orange but I love the other colours in it.  Anyway, I grabbed some soon as it came in and went home that night to have a play.  Was really pleased with how this turned out.  Think it might have something to do with the photos.  How cute is that little girl?  She is now turning 10 soon.  My how time flies :(

Wow!  Sorry for the long post!  Thanks so much for dropping by and enjoy your weekend!

Explosion box

Hello friends!

Hope you are all well and enjoying life!

I have been wanting to do this project for a while now and finally last week I had a whole day to myself to sit and create away!

It is an explosion box.  I have seen some of the on youtube but have put a little twist on it.

This is the box all closed up.

And when its opened ......  Wallaaahhh!

I love interactive stuff and I wanted to take it one step further so I added a couple of pockets and flip out pages.

Its a little hard to see on the pics.  Unfortunately my love of scrapping hasn't help my photography skills!  This was so much fun to make.  I'm going to be teaching this as a class.

Also want to share my card for this weeks Feeling Sketchy challenge.  I really look forward to the new challenge set every week.  Really gets the brain starting to flow!

I have coloured her with my Prisma pencils.  I am loving them at the moment and was lucky enough to score a set on the Garage Sale site on Facebook for the bargain price of $80 for a big tin! Wahhhoooo love a bargain!  Not having a lot of luck with my Copics that I bought but I am going to persevere with them.

I have a date tonight with not one but two wonderful men!  My hubby and eldest son are taking me out for tea to the best place in Perth to have garlic prawns before we head to the theatre to watch the two youngest children perform in a school production.  Off to get my glam on!

Thanks for hanging around.  It was a bit of a long post!

Sunny Days

Hey everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.

The weather here is just beautiful at the moment.  We have had a week of sunny spring days.  I have spent the morning outside weeding in the garden and enjoying some sunshine.

Just wanted to share my card that I am entering into this weeks Feeling Sketchy challenge.

What a cute little stamp this is.  I have coloured her with my prisma pencils.  I am really enjoying using my pencils at the moment tho I did jump in this week and went and purchased my first lot of Copics.  Must say I am really struggling to get them to work for me but I will persevere with them.  I have bought so many colours I think I may need to sell a kidney to pay for them!  LOL.

This month is also my last  month designing for Mad About Scrappin.  This was the first time I have been on a design team.  I have had a fantastic time and met some incredibly lovely and very talented ladies.  It has made me step out of my comfort zone and really stretch myself.  So thank you Leanne for the wonderful opportunity!

Here are a couple of my last design team layouts.

I was really pleased with how this turned out.  I alway struggle with boy stuff but this came together really well.  The chevron pattern up the top I created by using my Stampin Up photo corner punch.  I thought that was pretty neat :)

This next one is quite simple and clean but still pleased with the end result.

Thanks again for stopping by.  Will pop back a little later with some more to share.
